In the words of the song by Heather Small, the inspiration to this blog was ”Saturday Night” and the 60 minutes it took for Team GB to win 3 gold medals. The only thing that could have improved on the atmosphere would have been if I had actually had tickets …
Now I’m not one to go overboard about sports but what a great night. I have to admit that couch athletics is both exhausting and exciting at the same time. There is one other thing about couch athletics – I do struggle with the punishing training regime!
Along with a good many other people I am probably feeling a sense of euphoria on first seeing Jessica Ennis (the face of London 2012) win her gold. Then Milton Keynes based Greg Rutherford wins his too. Like the commentators said, they will probably name a roundabout after him. Then finally as I watched Mo Farrow storm to victory in the 10k my wife was on the edge of her seat screaming at the television “Go Mo“. I tried to tell her that no matter how loud she shouted he couldn’t hear her.Back to the three gold medals; what’s the saying? “Never one when you want one and then two come along all at once“. Trust Team GB to go one better. Personally I actually prefer the Winter Olympics which are now less than 2 years away – give me an ice hockey match or a bob sleigh run any day of the week.
