This past week has been a little strange for myself and FTS. To start with I have been working less than 2 miles from the office. I don’t think that has ever happened in my 10 years of testing, we normally travel into London, over into Oxfordshire, Bedfordshire and Northampton and of course more importantly all over Buckinghamshire and Berkshire …
Anyway, my team and I have been working at a site where safety is paramount and second nature – well testing the safety of a product is anyway. My client tests your household appliances, mobile phones and various other pieces of equipment – in some cases to destruction.
I have seen state of the art televisions, lawnmowers and dishwashers being tested to the various British Standards but the best thing that amused me was the testing of some Prams and Pushchairs on a rolling road.
The staff must love working there after all, where else would you be paid to play with all sorts of electrical appliances and phones? I even saw a range of robot vacuum cleaners being tested. Imagine going to bed at night and coming down in the morning to find the house has been hoovered? It gives a whole new twist on the cleaning fairies my wife keep telling me about.
I’m looking forward to testing one area in particular. It’s called “The Rainfall Laboratory”. I’m taking my wellies and raincoat, so can anyone lend me an iPod with “Singing in the Rain” on it please?
So – to the serious side of electrical safety. If your business equipment has been tested to various British Standards before you purchase it, why on earth wouldn’t you want to ensure that that same piece of equipment is not meeting those high standards after being in use for a year or so?
Remember regular PAT testing ensures that your electrical equipment is safe while adhering to current Health and Safety regulations. Why not call us on 0330 6600264 for a free no obligation quotation and to see how we can help?
Until next time …
