This week has been a little difficult yet it looks as though things have finally started to move in the right direction; not only on the business front but also personally as well …
To start with, FTS has recently won a very large testing contract which will see us very busy until after Easter. There is, of course, a down side as we will be working weekends starting at the nice early time of 5am! This is one of the value added services that my company offers at no additional charge – working at a time that doesn’t impact on your business operations.
And personally, things have finally started to move in a forward direction as well. I have been on the waiting list for major surgery for over a year now, but I’ve just been waiting and waiting. With it being so long – and been advised that I would have only had to wait 18 weeks back in January 2012 – I felt that I had reasonable grounds to challenge the system.
I decided that my GP needed to be put in the picture and I had the right to ask a few questions. To cut a long story short, it appears that with the fantastic technology that is available to the NHS, I have been lost in the system! I wouldn’t mind, but if you ever do attend a hospital, they actually refer to you by your barcode which they scan for everything. I have thought about getting it tattooed somewhere so they can scan and track me every time I bend over – hopefully I won’t get lost anymore!
Amazing – but since that one conversation, I have been sent at least 5 appointments, three of which are for the same doctor and I only needed one! I have been told that I now have to have the various different investigations which I have already endured again. The reason why? Because the results are too old and they need fresh results. Whose fault is that? Arrrgh!
Finally, I was told today that it will be about 3 months before my surgery. I won’t hold my breath though, but in the meantime, I can start to look at my back up plans; after all I need to know that FTS Safety Solutions will still be giving the same first class service, even though I might not actually be at the helm for a few months.
Until next time …I may have to talk to The Office Genie, to cover my phones while I cannot answer them myself.
