Fire Awareness Training
Under UK legislation, the responsible person (business owner) is required to: include suitable and sufficient instruction and training on the appropriate precautions and actions to be taken by the employee in order to safeguard him/herself and other relevant persons on the premises, be repeated periodically where appropriate, the responsible person must appoint one or more competent persons to assist him in undertaking the preventive and protective measures.
It is a legal requirement for staff to have an adequate level of fire safety training however this is depending on the findings of your fire risk assessment. The aim of our fire awareness training is to be engaging, to make people more fire-aware, to realise just how readily and how fast fires develop and why the safeguards are provided. By utilising this approach they will modify their behaviours far more effectively than is seen from simple instruction.
The level will vary depending on the size of the company and the inherent risks within the workplace. Depending on the fire risk assessment and the subsequent fire policy/emergency plan, selected staff (competent persons) will be required to train to a set level – Fire Warden.
