Over the past few weeks I have noticed that the gentle reminder to write my next blog post, which pings up in my inbox every week from sblogit.com’s mission control, seems to come around far too quick …
So here I go again; what do I do? Well, it’s been yet another interesting week with a variety of new clients and venues. One of my highlights was a brief visit to The National Museum Of Computing. The reason being, I was asked if I could test a few items that belonged to one of the volunteers who would be attending a business exhibition in a few days time. In return for my time donation, I was offered a whistle stop tour of the museum.
I even saw the Colossus computer; one thing is for certain – I could only dream of attempting a PAT test on that piece of British history! Amazingly, I also saw other computers that took me back to my childhood. Remember the BBC Micro? There were also various other pieces of computer history; I had to laugh when I was shown a cabinet bigger than my wardrobe, but had less storage than my mobile phone! So one thing for certain, I have made the decision to return and visit when I have much more time and would certainly recommend a visit to anyone based on what I had briefly seen.
The rest of this past week has been spent, working on my business plan, looking at ideas, on how I can expand services and improve our presence in the local areas. One of those said services being our online Health and Safety Staff Refresher courses and I have also been looking at a new testing machine from Seaward, the Apollo 600 which integrates PAT testing with risk assessment; it’s the new way of recording, testing and reporting. After the visit, I had to prepare for a weekend of testing. Offering an “out of normal working hours” service is one of our key selling points that we offer clients at no additional charge. By doing this, we are able ensure that the client’s business does not get affected. We do laugh on some of our early starts when you see the early morning volunteer looking like they have just got out of bed seconds before! All my staff are in uniform, wearing their ID badges with their test equipment ready and waiting and in most cases, on early starts, they have already been at my house for bacon butties.
Anyway I was having a little think about my next week’s blog when, I will beat the timely reminder from sblogit.com next week!, my diary rings telling me that one of the test machines is due for its annual service and calibration; another task to go on the list.
Oh, before I forget; test your smoke alarm it could save your life! In the meantime, if you are interested in looking at our online refresher courses, having your equipment tested, or even having your circuits checked then please give me a call on 0330 6600264 or click here to ping over an email.
Until next time …
